In this month’s  ‘Smart: Tried and Tested’ we’re taking a look at the Gulfstream G600, which has earned more than 35 world speed records and boasts an award-winning interior.

The G600’s near supersonic high-speed of Mach 0.90 (over 690 mph), means its range can fly from London to Beijing. The aircraft has a maximum range of 6,600nm and a maximum operating altitude of 51,000 ft.

Leading the industry in sustainable innovation, the G600 is powered by advanced (and super quiet) Pratt and Whitney engines, and is recognised for its 12% better fuel-efficiency. The aerodynamic wings means it can cover vast distances on less fuel.

The overall length of the plane is 29m (96 ft 1 in ) and it is 8m (25 ft in) high. The wingspan is 28 m (94 ft 2 in).

The G600 reinvents comfort and can carry 13 passengers comfortably and can sleep up to six. Using customer feedback, Gulfstream focused on the proportions for an ideal fit seat and eliminated pressure points using computerised machining to sculpt and angle the foam bolsters. The cabin has a sophisticated design with elegant accents and fine leathers and textiles.

Safety is paramount with the G600. The Symmetry Flight features active control sidesticks that increase visual and tactile feedback between pilots. The Enhanced Flight Vision System (EFVS) sharpens the site and allows pilots to land the aircraft without natural vision in low-visibility conditions. Situational awareness is further enhanced by a Synthetic Vision-Primary Display which features 3D graphics of runways and terrain.

James Gregory, Head of VIP Charters, said: “We love the G600 because of the great range and our clients love the state-of-the-art features, but also rate it highly because of how it makes them feel. Larger oval windows means more natural light is allowed into the cabin and the aircraft pumps 100% fresh air into the cabin every three minutes. That combined with the low cabin altitude, ensures our clients always arrive at their destination feeling fresh and alert from their journey on the G600”.
