Smart converts charters to Rugby World Cup

Our comprehensive schedule of charters to the Rugby World Cup tournament commenced today.

8 September 2023: Back in March 2023, we detailed our extensive involvement in the Guinness Six Nations tournament and advised that our sports charter team were turning their attention to the 2023 Rugby World Cup. The tournament kicks off today at Stade de France (Saint-Denis), when host nation France take on New Zealand’s mighty All Blacks this evening at Stade de France (Saint-Denis).

As predicted, we have been extremely busy once more with arranging charters for fan groups to the World Cup and our comprehensive schedule of charters to the tournament commenced today. Ireland are the favourites to win the tournament after their victory in the Six Nations and we flew Irish fans from Dublin to Bordeaux Airport this morning to watch Ireland take on Romania tomorrow afternoon at Stade de Bordeaux (Bordeaux).

The flights departed promptly and Smart’s Head of Sales and Administration, Charlotte Sobol, was in Dublin this morning to ensure all went smoothly. As always, at each of our charters throughout the tournament, a Smart representative is on hand to ensure there are no issues.

In total, we have over 14,000 seats secured for fans from Ireland, England and Wales as they play in matches in different cities across France. Saturday, 23rd September will be a particularly active weekend for our sports charter team as Ireland play South Africa at Stade de France (Saint-Denis). This is always a highly anticipated showdown and we will be transporting hundreds of Irish fans to this match.

Mark Hawkins, Smart’s Managing Director, said: “We have been working on these charters for the last twelve months and we are ready for the busy few weeks ahead as the tournament progresses. The team has done a phenomenal job of finalising these bookings so meticulously, as well as managing the departures on the day so closely. We always get such a buzz being involved in the World Cup and I’m delighted our team is so heavily involved once more.”

Fixtures will be played in state-of-the-art stadiums in spectacular cities across France: Stade de Bordeaux (Bordeaux), Stade Pierre Mauroy (Lille), Ol Stadium (Lyon), Stade Vélodrome (Marseille), Stade de la Beaujoire (Nantes), Stade de Nice (Nice), Stade Geoffroy-Guichard (Saint-Étienne) and Stadium De Toulouse (Toulouse).  The final match of the tournament will be played on Saturday, 28th October, also at Stade de France (Saint-Denis).
