28 November 2023: In this month’s ‘Smart: Tried and Tested’ we’re taking a look at the Embraer Legacy 500, which boasts one of the largest cabins in the mid-size business private jet range.

The advanced jet has been in the skies since receiving certification in 2014. Known as the fastest jet in the mid-size range, it is powered by two Honeywell HTF7500E turbofan engines enabling a maximum speed of 612 miles per hour.

The Legacy 500 can be configured to carry up to 9 passengers, and eight passengers over 2,948 nautical miles (3,392 mi), or four passengers over 3,125 nautical miles ( 3,596 mi). It can fly for approximately six hours without stopping.

The overall length of the plane is 68 ft 1 inch (20.7m) and it is 21 ft 2 in (6.46m) high. The inside of the cabin is 6ft tall, making it the first stand up cabin in its class. The wingspan is 65 ft 6 in (20 m). Its maximum operating altitude is 45,000 ft.

Embraer is renowned for its design and the Legacy 500 features a sophisticated and polished interior. Every seat fully reclines, with the option for two to be converted into full flat beds.
