Courchevel 1850, France
Courchevel 1850 remains the benchmark for luxury ski travel. Michelin-starred dining, discreet service, and some of the grandest chalets in Europe. The skiing is exceptional, part of the Three Valleys, the largest ski area in the world. It is vast, varied, and perfectly groomed. The energy of the village never fades, from early December through to mid-April.
Courchevel is for those who want effortless access to everything, from designer boutiques to high-altitude skiing.
Lech, Austria
Lech is elegant, understated, and deeply traditional. Its heart lies in family-owned hotels and generations of hospitality, offering service fit for royalty. There is a quiet prestige here, less show, more substance. The Arlberg ski area is superb, with long, scenic runs and off-piste routes that reward the early riser.
Lech appeals to those who appreciate classic alpine style and the comfort of things done properly.
Kitzbühel, Austria
Few names carry more history. Kitzbühel is the home of the Hahnenkamm and the spirit of classic ski racing. The town itself is beautiful and quintessentially Austrian, with pastel houses, cobbled streets, and a sense of heritage everywhere you look. The skiing is diverse, and the après-ski lively yet civilised.
Kitzbühel is for those who love tradition, atmosphere, and the energy of a place built around winter sport.
Cervinia, Italy
Cervinia offers altitude and Italian charm in equal measure. It shares the mighty Matterhorn with Zermatt yet feels more relaxed and more open. Long, high, sunlit runs sweep down to the village, with views that seem endless.
Cervinia is for those who love wide slopes, great food, and the joyful simplicity of skiing well and eating even better.
Crans-Montana, Switzerland
Crans-Montana holds a special place for me. It is where I began my career in the Alps and where I learned the rhythm of mountain life. The views stretch across the Rhône Valley to the highest peaks in Switzerland, and the sunshine feels endless. The town combines sophistication with space. Golf courses in the summer turn to ski runs in the winter. Long lunches on open terraces and an easy pace capture the best of Swiss living.
Gstaad, Switzerland
Gstaad is timeless. It is where discretion meets sophistication, where alpine estates sit quietly behind wooden gates. You come here for peace and picture-perfect Swiss charm. The hotels are exceptional, the service warm, and the experience entirely private.
Gstaad suits those who want time to slow. To ski a little, shop, dine, and rest in refined comfort.
St Martin de Belleville, France
A world away from Courchevel’s sparkle yet only a few lifts apart in the Three Valleys, St Martin de Belleville is a favourite among those in the know. The village has an authentic Savoyard charm, with traditional chalets, fine restaurants, and a pace that invites you to stay longer.
St Martin is for travellers who value connection, authenticity, and the quiet luxury of true mountain life.
Verbier, Switzerland
Verbier combines glamour with grit. Home to some incredible palatial chalets, the terrain is world-class, steep, exciting, and full of adventure. And the après scene is legendary. Yet beneath it all is a community that lives for the mountains.
