SKI WEEKENDS?

A quick, 48 hour blast of high octane sport and grand cru Alpine air is often just what is needed to get you through a grey, urban, desk-bound winter. For the time-poor, thrill-hungry demographic weekend skiing is, of course, best approached via a chartered aircraft.
Obvious, really – why hang around at a commercial airport, wasting precious hours of downhill time while you wait for a cattle class torture ride to Geneva and a two hour mini bus shuttle to the resort when you can arrive 10 minutes before your flight departs with not a queue in sight and a kind member of ground staff on hand to load your Salomons into the hold? Smart Aviation, an independent aircraft charter broker specialising in commercial and private jet charter can organize a bespoke schedule of flexible departure times to suit you and your party; leave London on a Friday morning, land at a boutique airstrip close the resort (Megeve’s fly-in, ski out Altiport springs to mind) and be on the slopes or at your chalet in around two hours…with the luxury of a further two full days of skiing ahead. Head back home on Sunday evening after the last lift has closed and the final glass of Aperol Spritz downed. No waiting at baggage reclaim to collect your skis or boards…a little bit of luxury and longer on the slopes.

UK brokerage Smart Aviation is raising funds for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance (KSS Air Ambulance). Smart’s MD Mark Hawkins explains: “Its response during the Shoreham Airshow tragedy in 2015 (when a Hawker Hunter jet crashed killing 11 people) was witnessed by Smart Aviation staff who suggested we should do something to help maintain the amazing service it provides. It was an easy decision to make to become a corporate supporter.” The company’s first involvement came during April’s Brighton Marathon and raised over $46,000. Smart Aviation provided a large marquee for runners to receive refreshments and massages after completing the race. “KSS Air Ambulance is such a worthwhile cause,” adds Hawkins. “It offers an unrivalled facility and service in the area, bringing a virtual A&E department to the scene of incidents.”
