Smart assists in the repatriation of stricken cruise ship passengers
Smart Aviation was on hand to arrange charters for passengers of a stricken cruise ship outside the port of Nynamshamn, Sweden. Over two thousand passengers were enjoying a ten-night Baltic capitals itinerary when an electrical problem brought an abrupt end to the voyage. Unable to offer guests the normal level of service, the cruise company contacted Smart in order to assist with the repatriation effort back to various destinations in Europe.
Paul Bowen who was heading up the 24 hour office based Operations Team at the time, responded to the request immediately. He was able to source an available aircraft and crew, confirm the handling and fuel details, and complete the relevant contractual documentation, liaising with the operator when necessary. The next morning it was handed over to the team on the daytime shift, who continued to track the progress of the flights, and the passengers’ safe return home.
Alongside our experience of executive jet charters, we also possess expertise in chartering larger commercial aircraft. With a comprehensive global database of aircraft, updated daily, Smart are able to utilise the most cost-effective charter availability.
